Meet Kirsten

Hi, I’m Kirsten Norden and I’m the founder of swimnastics. Coaching athletes is my passion and purpose. A former competitive gymnast, I’ve worked as a gymnastics coach for 13 years at the National Centre of Excellence and Methodist Ladies’ College Gymnastics.

In addition to my gymnastics coaching, I’ve worked as a strength and conditioning coach for a range of junior developing athletes in netball, hockey, mogul skiing and athletics – and as a swimming coach at MLC Aquatic. I also competed as an elite triathlete when I retired from gymnastics. With a Bachelor of Exercise and Sports Science, an Advanced Silver Gymnastics Coaching Accreditation (FIG Level 2) and am a Bronze License swimming coach, my background has equipped me with an eye for movement, a deep understanding of how the body works and the ability to cater for a range of abilities.

In 2015 I was approached by Rohan Taylor and Damian Farrow to form a gymnastics-based dry-land training program that would help junior swimmers enhance their skill acquisition. My experience in gymnastics, understanding of swimming and ability to engage with a range of athletes made this the perfect fit. So I created the training program and swimnastics was born.

Kirsten is fantastic at applying her knowledge of gymnastics and transferring it to activities and movements on dry land that replicate what our swimmers do in the pool. Aside from the core workout she puts them through, her engaging nature and ability to instruct teenagers makes her session double as a team building activity where the athletes are challenged, required to work together and enjoy a laugh all at the same time.
